Isaac Lee Hayes Jr is an American singer, songwriter, actor and producer. Hayes was one of the creative forces behind southern soul music label Stax Records, where he was both professional musician and songwriter and record producer, collaborating with partner David Porter in the mid-1960s. Hayes and Porter introduced into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005 are recognized for writing dozens of songs for themselves, duo Sam & Dave, Carla Thomas and others.
